Sea Side Apartment Renovation

We were so excited to start this project because we knew this home had so much potential. Everything about the location of the apartment is perfect being situated directly on the beach with views of the blue sky and clear sea; all that was missing was the perfect interior decoration to match the beauty of the apartments surroundings. The lovely family who this renovation was for, envisioned and briefed the sea side feel to be within the walls of their holiday home; so we got started.

The kitchen was perhaps the part of the apartment that we were most keen to renovate. The yellow/ old fashioned and cheap looking cupboards were not something we were willing to keep as well as the mirrored backdrop. The color theme was pretty much non-existent and there was a dark feel that we knew that we needed to brighten up! In addition the layout was not functional - with two dishwashers side by side under the counter top and an oven near the ground. This was a no go since one of the biggest rules in interior design is that functionality comes over appearance. Kitchens are all about functionality!

When designing the kitchen, we decided that we would extend the kitchen counter our in order to give the clients a place where they could eat breakfast in the morning. We also decided to move the ovens to a place where they were more accessible because there is nothing worse than having to bend down to get your lasagne out of the oven! We were debating whether or not to take the brick arches out of the kitchen however we ended up working with them and incorporating them into the design as it gives a Spanish twist on the design which is perfect for reminding or clients where they are and giving that holiday feel (if the sea view didnt do that well enough for them).

Our building team quickly got to work after the design was finalised and started pre demolition by tearing out the contents of the old kitchen. The gas, electricity and water systems were altered in order to fit where we wanted new appliances to lie. After pre-demolition we were ready for demolition and once again our very efficient, quick moving building team got straight to work.

After demolition is when everything came together and we were ecstatic with the results. The outcome was just as we had envisaged and the selected materials and appliances fit the location of the apartment perfectly.
